Asia's Medical Systems and Traditions

The Wellcome Trust Centre for the History of Medicine has sponsored research in the History of Asian medicine for many years. Centre members edit a Wellcome series publishing fine editions of classical texts in their own language. This website aims to introduce some of the key areas in history of Asian medicine and to focus on current Centre work in the field. Scholars associated with the Centre, or previously funded by the Wellcome Trust and who are working on Asian medicine, have joined us here to provide as broad as possible an introduction to the field. Under 'research by region' you will find a map which has been keyed to some core research areas relevant to individuals concerned, and arranged according to geographic region.
